Doyle, Mackenzie Compton, Wesley Compton, Shelby Compton, Natalie Compton and Deacon Compton. Laverne was raised and worked in Hays County for most of his life. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He spent his life providing for his family thru ranching; both raising cattle and goats. He was an exceptional steward of the land and always had a good sized garden. One of his grandkid's fondest memories was eating fresh watermelon in the backyard. Papaw or Kakaw, always made time for grandkids to check out the newest baby goats at the ranch as well. Helping unload literal tons of feed wasn't always fun, but the jump in the creek afterwards was. Laverne enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. He was a loving, caring and (most of the time) proud, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Laverne also served as Director on the 'Hays County Soil and Water Conservation Board' for 28 years. He was very instrumental in helping create the 'Dripping Springs Ag Booster Club' in 1981 and served on the Hays Country Livestock Board for many years. He and Margie raised and showed Angora goats all over the state, winning numerous awards thru the Texas Angora Goat Raisers Association. Laverne was Director of the Texas Angora Goat Raisers Association for 8 years. He also served on the Hays County Appraisal Review Board and was Director of the Phillips Cemetery Association.
