Travis Thornton, 47, of Baxter, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter, Iowa from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Bethany Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa. Travis was born on September 29, 1971 to Billy "Bill" and Faye (Paulsen) Thornton in Des Moines, Iowa. His family relocated to rural Baxter where Travis was raised. He attended Baxter High School he played football. He graduated with the class of 1990. After school, Travis worked for Colfax Tractor Parts before starting his own tractor restoration company. He was a true craftsman and could rebuild, build, or fix about anything. Travis was member of Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter. He loved spending time with Lisa and Tristan, hunting, fishing, racing stock cars, hanging out with friends at the shop, and recently trapping with Tristan.
