Albert J. Bormann was born February 22, 1928 in Irvington Township son of Mathias and Katherine (Kellner) Bormann. Al grew up in St. Benedict attending St. Benedict Catholic School and graduating from St. Cecelia Academy in Algona. Al was united in marriage to Dolores Devlin on August 30, 1950 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and returned to the St. Benedict area where he farmed retiring in 1989 and moving into Algona. Al was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a supporter of Bishop Garrigan sports. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, going to the races and being with his grandkids. Al and Dolores loved to travel spending their retirement winters in Florida. He was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Hagg Turner American Legion Post # 90, and the VFW Post # 2541. Albert J. Bormann died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society at the age of 83. He had been a resident there since July, 2007. Kyle Sidles) Hanson of Algona, Amanda Hanson, a student at NIACC, Mason City, McKaela Bormann, Noah Bormann and Kaetlyn Bormann all of Blaine, MN, and Sarah Wipperman of New York City, NY; and a great-grandson; Karson Sidles of Algona. He is also survived by a cousin, Barbara (Mark) Bernhard of Fenton; a sister-in-law, Camilla Bormann of Algona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Bormann.
