George W. Gerk age 62 of Clinton and formerly of Maquoketa Iowa died Wednesday morning July 31 2002 at his home in Clinton Iowa following a lengthy illness.



Funeral Services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday August 3 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa Iowa with Father Tom McDermott officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Maquoketa Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday August 22002.0 at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services Maquoketa Iowa where a 6 P.M. Vigil Service will be held.



George Gerk was born June 25 1940 in Mason City IA to George W. Gerk and Pauline D. Weiss Gerk. Mr. Gerk was a 1958 Maquoketa Community High School graduate. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force working as an Administration Clerk and was a member of the Honor Guard drill team while stationed in Lakenheath England. He married Rosemary Clausen on August 22 1964 in Clinton Iowa.



Mr. Gerk worked as a materials handler for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for 32 years then the Union Pacific Railroad for 6 years until retirement. He was a member of the TCU union Victory Lodge #554 for 3...[more]

He is Survived By: His Wife- Rosemary of Clinton IA; 1 Son- David(Diana) Gerk of Clinton IA; 1 Grandson- Michael; His Mother- Pauline Gerk of Maquoketa IA; & 1 Sister- Joanne(Mrs. Lyn) Socks of Cedarburg WI. He was preceded in death by his father.
