Charlotte Baumann

Charlotte Winnette Baumann was born April 15, 1924, in her home in Leland, Iowa, to Francis and Inga (Langfald) Bowman. She was baptized into the Christian Faith on June 22, 1924 and confirmed on July 16, 1939. She graduated from Leland High School in 1942 and Waldorf College in 1944. She studied to be a teacher. She also attended Mankato State College, University of Colorado, University of Iowa and the Lutheran Bible Institute in Golden Valley, Minnesota. She taught school for 11 years total in Waterloo, Hanlontown and Buffalo Center before she married Frederick George Baumann in Leland, Iowa, on October 26, 1957. The couple lived on the farm north of Lakota. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakota where she taught Sunday school as well as vacation bible school. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, the Luther League, the Lutheran Daughters of Reformation and was the church historian. She enjoyed working in her yard, was a member of the Lakota Garden Club and her hobbies included working with arts and crafts items and making greeting cards. il 6, 2011, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Bancroft at the age of 86. Survivors include her daughter Winnette and husband Dan Levy of Burt, son John Baumann and wife Laura of Leland, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Cathryn Eichenberger of Florida. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred and three brothers, Vernard, Orval and Art.
