Thomas H. Hood

Thomas Harold Hood, 59 passed away at 12:17 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at home with his wife by his side after a lifetime of heart problems. Thomas was born in Burlington, Iowa the son of Orley Harold and Mary Bennett Hood on November 4, 1951. Thomas was married to Anita Cannon on September 3, 1972 in Ft. Madison, Iowa. She survives. Thomas is also survived by one son, Thomas Robert Hood, a nephew Jason Cannon, a niece Justine Lambert, five great nephews and great nieces: Micheal Lambert, Kori Lambert, Luke Lambert, Kailey Cannon, and Kyler Cannon; Three brothers, Louie, Rodney, Jimmy; Three sisters, Emma, Barb and Mary. Thomas went to school, in Burlington, Iowa, later receiving his G.E.D. in 2002. He worked at Trellex Morse in Keokuk for 29 years having to retire in 2002, because of bad health and he was a life long member United Rubber Workers. He was a member of N.T.C.C. for 30 years where he served as Deacon, Junior Worship Leader, Sunday School Teacher; vacation Bible School Teacher, Communion preparer, Custodian helped put new roof on Sanctuary, and many other services to his Lord and Savior. his son spent many enjoyable hours. He loved to go hunting until his health prevented it. He enjoyed working with wood most of his life. Thomas could look at a picture of something and duplicate it, making many items for his friends and family. He was an avid fisherman with a lifetime license that he was very proud of. Thomas always enjoyed cooking and baking always making enough for an army. His specialty was making bread. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 25, 2011, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 25, 2011 until time of services at 1:00 P.M. with family meeting friends during this time. Memorials can be made to his great nieces and nephews education fund.
