A loving father and consummate servant, Claude Ervin Brown Sr., 86, of Hudson, Iowa, entered into the Lord's presence on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at ManorCare Health Center in Waterloo, Iowa.  He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on July 21, 1933; he was the son of Frank and Pearl (Kellehan) Brown.  After his father's untimely death, Claude spent time in foster care with Frank and Mimi Ward, from the age of 6 - 17. He grew up in Laurel, Iowa, where he attended and graduated from Laurel High School. He joined the United States Air Force in November 1950 and served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in November 1954. Claude moved to Waterloo in 1956 and went to work for Grange Heating. In 1966 he went to work for Iowa Public Service (IPS).  Then in 1985 he went to work at the Iowa State Training School for Boys in Eldora, Iowa until he retired in 1998. Claude was married to Iona Borton on October 27, 1957, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. der and volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America for 46 years in multiple leadership and training roles.  Claude touched more lives than we can count. He also volunteered with the American Red Cross--Hawkeye Chapter as an instructor for First Aid and CPR for over two decades. Claude was a member of Hudson Amvet Post #82 since February 2, 1991 and a member of American Legion Post #208 for a number of years. He is survived by his wife of 61 years. Claude was a loving grandfather to Ricky Neiheiser, Amanda Neiheiser, Austin Neiheiser, Susan Brown, Haley Easthom, Danielle Brown, Delani Brown, Nick Brown, Ellie Brown, and Sofia Brown, and a great grandfather to Vanessa Trotter and David Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Pearl (Kellehan) Brown; foster parents, Frank and Mimi Ward; and 10 siblings, Doris, Ethel, Hubert "Bud," Imogene, Daphine "Dee," Elroy, Harold, Frank JR, Mary Jane, and Benjamin "Ben."
