Jacqueline A. Huber

Jacqueline Ann (Brown) Huber; loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and child of God, was a proud life-long resident of Algona, Iowa. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Trinity Lutheran Algona, where she remained a member until her passing home to heaven. Born in 1930, Jacque grew up on the Brown Dairy Farm where she helped her father tend the cattle and fields and grew up hearing her mother playing the organ each Sunday at church. Jacque could often be found at her family's Brown Dairy Ice Cream Shop, located in Algona during the early decades of her life. During childhood, she walked daily with her cousins to the one-room schoolhouse where she received her early education, and later graduated from Algona High School. Jacque then attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota. In both high school and college she made many dear friends, whom she remained close to throughout her life. d through various groups. Besides tending to her children and volunteering at church, Jacque was a pioneer in her time and worked full time in the offices of Drs. Schutter and Koob. Jacque cherished working in the offices helping the people of Algona and working alongside dear friends. Living near much of her family in Algona, Jacque enjoyed organizing family reunions and helping to compile the famous Brown Family Cookbook. Beyond family, her career, and church activities, Jacque was an expert seamstress. She was known for her creativity and attention to detail. Additionally, she was an avid gardener and flower arranger, particularly known for her breathtakingly beautiful hydrangeas. Dear to Jacque's heart was Camp Okoboji, LCMS in Milford, IA. First known as Walther League Camp, Jacque began spending summer weeks at Camp Okoboji in her junior high years and returned each summer for the remainder of her life. Whether it was the two summer weeks spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and, eventually great-grandchildren, or the Labor Day weekends spent volunteering at the camp, it was, and will remain, a most treasured place for Jacque and her family. Jacque, or "Gram" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, will be remembered for her tenacity, independence, wisdom, kindness, wit, and dislike of tomatoes. Her values live on within her family members in devotion to the church through music, appreciation for America's farmlands, love of ice cream, gardening, her faith, and her love of Jesus Christ. Jacqueline is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Huber; parents, Loren and Florence Brown; brother, Robert Brown; and dear friends Verlyn (Skinny) and Virginia (Ginny) DeWall. Jacque is survived by her children Sara (Jon) Jakeman, Debra (Bruce) Bennett; grandchildren Mark (Anne) Bennett, Elizabeth (Jim) Moran, Bethany (Joe) Bratz, Krista (Nick) Biederer; and great-grandchildren Gabriel, Olivia, and Andrew Bennett; Ginny and Annabelle Moran, and Ariya Biederer. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jacque's memory may be made to Camp Okoboji, Milford,IA.
