Robert "Bob" Grams
Robert "Bob" Dean Grams was born on February 24, 1934, to Ellie (Al) and Minnie (Anderson) Grams in Ann Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. Bob attended country school near Vesta through the 8th grade. The family then moved near Walnut Grove where he completed high school in 1952. After four years in the United States Air Force, Bob returned to the area. In June of 1959, Bob was united in marriage to Donna Jackels. They made their home in Storden and had three sons, Dean, Kelly and Bruce. Donna died in 1973. On November 22, 1974, Bob married Sandra (Johnson) Roby and adopted her daughter Lynn. Bob then spent the rest of his life in business in Storden. His first years were with Storden Egg Produce, then the Storden Farm Center and finally the Coffee Shop and Shady Drive Inn. Bob served the City of Storden for thirty-four years: eleven years as councilman and twenty-three as mayor. He also served on several Boards for organizations that supported people with disabilities - ARC, Swan Lake DAC, and SW MN Mental Health. ecember 7, 2007, Bob suffered a massive stroke at his home. He was taken to the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he passed away surrounded by his family on December 8th at the age of 73. Bob is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Sandy of Storden; three children, Dean and his wife Nancy, of Marshall; Kelly and his wife Lois, of Storden; Lynn Swanson and her husband Joel, of Walnut Grove. Seven grandchildren; Candice (Matt) O?Neal; Ashton (fiancée Cindy) Grams; Tyler (Ashley) Grams; Julia Grams; Mitchel Grams; Nathan Swanson; and Sarah Swanson. Three brothers; Orlen (Carol) Grams; Luvern (Sharon) Grams; Curt (Grace) Grams; one sister, Evelyn (Denny) Fulin; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding Bob in death were his parents; first wife, Donna; and son, Bruce. Blessed be his memory.
