Alice M. Sauer Mrs. Alice M. Sauer, age 75 years of Port Washington, passed away during the evening hours of Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon. Alice was born in Buffalo County, WI on May 4, 1931, daughter of William Moy and Olinda Heck Moy. On June 18, 1955, she married Donald Sauer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mondovi. The couple made their home in Port Washington, and Alice started teaching first grade. After teaching for four years, she took a break from teaching to raise her family. Mrs. Sauer returned to teaching as a substitute elementary teacher in the Port Washington Saukville School District for many years. Alice has been an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Washington since 1955. She was in the Missionary League, taught confirmation and a Sunday school class, sang in the choir, and was also President of Ozaukee County Lutherans for Life. She and her husband also enjoyed square dancing, and Alice served several terms as president for the Country Promenaders Square Dance Club. She is survived by her husband Don of Port Washington, son Mike (Lora) Sauer of Port Washington, daughter Donna (Randy) Hastreiter of Marshfield, 6 grandchildren; Dan and Jon Sauer, and Chris, Kathy Steve and Andy Hastreiter. She is further survived by 1 brother Roland (Barbara) Moy of Boone, NC, 3 sisters Phyllis Glanzman of Mondovi, Delores (Larry) Staats of Eau Claire, and Carolyn (Dwight) Jaquish of Forest Lake, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Harold Moy and 1 sister Betty Heike. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at 7 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 217 Freeman Dr. Port Washington with Pastor John Klieve officiating. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation will take place at the church on Sunday the 11th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church or Our Savior Lutheran Church, Grafton, Capital Appeal Fund suggested. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family.
