RICHARD A. "Dick" SCHMIDT Richard Schmidt, age 64 years of Wheeling, Il, formerly of Port Washington, WI died peacefully at his home in Wheeling on Thursday morning, Sept. 14, 2006 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born February 2, 1942 in Port Washington, son of Lawrence and Priscilla Rausch Schmidt. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he married Karen Ohm on October 1, 1966 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Richard worked as an aviation technician, most recently for FEDEX until retiring. He was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Wheeling, IL and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife Karen, five children Richard (Jennifer) Schmidt of Memphis, TN, Robert (Rachael) Schmidt of DeForest, WI, Rochelle (William) Demuth of Crest Hill, IL, Randall Schmidt of St. Louis, MO and Rebecca (Jordan) Thas of Palatine, IL, five grandchildren RJ, Mary, Katie, Will and Reanna, his parents Lawrence and Priscilla Schmidt of Port Washington, WI and four brothers Gerald (Elaine) Schmidt of Port Washington, Ralph Schmidt and Kenneth (Sue) Schmidt both of Milwaukee and Christopher (Marla) Schmidt of Deerfield, WI. n will be held on Monday, September 18 from 10 AM untill 12 noon at Our Lady of the Brook Catholic Church, 3700 Dundee Road, Northbrook, IL. Visitation will continue on Monday afternoon from 4-6:30 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington with Mass at 7 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Burial with military honors will be at 10 AM Tuesday at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery in Port Washington. Memorials to Pancreatic Cancer Research or VITAS Hospice appreciated.
