Terrence "Terry" McGuire

Terrence Trent McGuire, 59, passed away peacefully at his home in Algona on October 8, 2019. Terry was born June 11, 1960, the son of Don and Verena (Kayser) McGuire. He graduated from Algona High School in 1978 and attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Except for his college days, he lived in Algona all his life. Terry faced many health challenges throughout his life, and no one could have navigated that better than he did....continually maintaining a positive attitude and a non-complaining spirit. One of the happiest segments of Terry's life was his 11 year employment at Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg, Iowa where he was a spectacular card dealer. Terry's mathematical mind and excellent memory skills for dates and numbers served him well at Wild Rose. He loved that job and never missed work until his recent broken ribs from falls due to his acute diabetes and its complications made it impossible for him to work. Perhaps the traits many of us siblings admired the most were his non-complaining attitude and his never uttering an unkind word about anyone. ht there was...he is there right now with Kathy, and Dad and Mom. We siblings are proud to have had a brother like Terry! He showed us what perseverance is; what kindness is; what gentleness is; what not-complaining looks like. We loved him very much! Terry's family would like to thank Dr. Brinkley and the Kossuth Regional Health Center staff for their wonderful care of and kindness to Terry all these years. We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful Congregate Meal Program and its generous staff and volunteers who give of themselves to make the lives of others better. Thank you, also, to Hy-Vee meals delivery for its compassionate and caring employees. We, the McGuire Family, will always be grateful to the many wonderful people who genuinely had Terry's best interests at heart. Thank you for being so kind to him! We will always remember!
