Audrey B. Schmitt   Audrey Schmitt, age 78 years of Port Washington, passed away in the evening hours of Monday, June 29, 2009 at Port Haven assisted living facility in Port Washington, surrounded by her loving family.  Audrey was born in Milwaukee on December 30, 1930, daughter of Fred Bertz and Marie Weiland Bertz.  On February 7, 1953 she married George Schmitt at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee.  Mrs. Schmitt worked as a licensed practical nurse for area care facilities, the most recent being St. Camillus in Wauwatosa.  Audrey was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington.  She enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead, playing the organ, dancing and listening to country music.  She is survived by her husband George of Port Washington, her three children: Kathy (Gary) Burmesch, Mike (Mary) Schmitt and Linda Baumann, all of Port Washington.  She is further survived by 7 grandchildren: T.J and Emily Burmesch, Katie and Patrick Schmitt, Mike (Carrie) Baumann, Dan (special friend Jen Janeshek) Baumann and Sarah Baumann, 3 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Jonathan and Joseph Baumann, 1 brother Don (Car...[more]

Bertz of Waukesha, 2 nephews Richard (Pam) Bertz and Robert (Ann) Bertz, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Marie Bertz and her in-laws, John and Bertha Schmitt.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2nd at 6 PM at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington with Father Jim Ernster officiating.  Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.  Visitation will be at the CHURCH on Thursday July 2nd from 3-6 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested.  The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family.   Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com
