Sherer, Joseph John “Jack” Of LAKE CHURCH, set sail on a new tack with his beloved wife Mary Grace on September 16, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Loving father of Maura (Greg) Graf, Susan Sherer (Sally Schuster), the late John Sherer, Carl James (Mary) Sherer, Gracie Sherer (Charlie Camp), Shaz (Sue Grandaw) Sherer, Lollie (Marc) Wheeler, Richard Byrne (Jeanne) Sherer and Paul (Lisa) Sherer.  PawPaw to John, Jim, Amara and David Graf, Puji, Maggie, John and Gracie Sherer, Leslie, Cody and Marley Wheeler, Michael and Holden Sherer, Jack Sherer, Tristan and Latta Camp, Abi and Andrew Nass.  Great PawPaw to Riley Sherer, Tanner Barrett, Chloe Graf, Gigi Barrett, Jackson Graf and Charles Nass.  Further survived by his brothers Thomas Sherer and Rev. Richard Sherer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Jack was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame in 1943.  He served his country in the US Navy from 1943-1946.  He began his career as an architect at Eggers and Higgins Architects in New York City in 1946.  He joined the Milwaukee firm of Brielmaier, Sherer and Sherer Architects in 1949 along with his twin brother Bill....[more]

e firm became Sherer & Sherer Architects, LTD in 1959.  They designed such notable projects as Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, St. Monica’s Church, various buildings at Marquette University including Helfarer Theater and the interior remodeling of Gesu Church.   Other notable projects include the Pabst Mansion restoration, numerous Wisconsin Telephone Co. projects and the UWM Downer College Restoration.  As an architectural firm, they did work in 27 states, focusing on churches, schools and colleges. In addition to his professional career, he created fine works of art.  Jack was an accomplished oil painter and a master ship model builder. He also enjoyed donating his time and talent to such projects as the renovation of St. Mary church in Lake Church and the design of the Belgium Park projects.  Jack volunteered his time on numerous community boards and committees throughout his life.              A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19th at 11 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 6092 Lake Church Road, Belgium.  Visitation at the CHURCH Saturday 9-11 AM.
