BOATMAN, JOHN F. SAUKVILLE, June 17, 2010, aged 75 crossed over and was welcomed into the Spirit World by family, friends and mentors.  Born in Marinette, Wisconsin on April 9, 1935 to Lester F. and Eleanor  Boatman.  John  shared part of his life with Kathleen (O’Connell-Boatman) Wettengel, who blessed him with three children:   Colleen Boatman-Katchenago, Carolyn Boatman and Michael Boatman.  Dear grandfather of John (Vanessa) Katchenago;   Aidan, Gavin, Nolan and Tara Stumpf; and  Jack Boatman.  John also shared his life with Betty Ann (Slezewski) Boatman, and step-son Craig (Julie Makos) Curtiss.  John finished the last 23 years of his life journey with beloved wife Patricia (nee Mejchar, formerly Muschinske), and step -children Andrea (Robert Standring) Muschinske and children Hugo, Isabelle and Franc; Carla Muschinske; Eric (Jenny) Muschinske and children Lauren and Evan; Kirsten (Magdelano) Villegas and children Jon Carlo, Simon and Dante; and Karine.   Loving brother of Lester R. ter-in-laws Kathleen Gruenewald and Lynnette Liebelt  and brother-in-law Gregory Mejchar , nieces, nephews, other relatives, many former students and friends.   John had been the Director of American Indian & Ethnic Studies at UW Milwaukee for 34 years, retiring in 2005.  In addition to his parents, John was preceded to the Spirit World by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wally and Maureen Dehne, nieces Darla and Susie Dehne, nephew Billy Dehne, mother-in-law Audrey Mejchar,  brother-in-law James Gruenewald and friends and mentors Paueese, Wallace, Koko,  Keewaydinoquay,  Jan and Carl.  Funeral Services will take place Monday, June 21st , 7PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, WI. Burial on Tuesday, June 22nd, 2PM in Forest Home Cemetery, Marinette. Visitation Monday at the Funeral Home from 3-7PM, with service at 7PM. Memorials appreciated in lieu of flowers to the John Boatman Legacy.
