John had been the Director of American Indian & Ethnic Studies at UW Milwaukee for 34 years, retiring in 2005. In addition to his parents, John was preceded to the Spirit World by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wally and Maureen Dehne, nieces Darla and Susie Dehne, nephew Billy Dehne, mother-in-law Audrey Mejchar, brother-in-law James Gruenewald and friends and mentors Paueese, Wallace, Koko, Keewaydinoquay, Jan and Carl. Funeral Services will take place Monday, June 21st , 7PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, WI. Burial on Tuesday, June 22nd, 2PM in Forest Home Cemetery, Marinette. Visitation Monday at the Funeral Home from 3-7PM, with service at 7PM. Memorials appreciated in lieu of flowers to the John Boatman Legacy.
