Allan B. Haacke Al Haacke, age 66 years of Port Washington died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa after courageously battling cancer for several years.  He was born May 11, 1944 in Milwaukee, son of the late Norman and Ida May Small Haacke. He was a 1962 graduate of Muskego High School and attended UW-La Crosse on a football scholarship.  After graduating, he taught elementary school in Wasco, CA for three years before returning to Wisconsin to teach in the Mequon-Thiensville School District.  For more than forty years, special education was his passion.  He continued his career by teaching at UW-Milwaukee and Concordia College. While teaching at Homestead, he coached the Varsity Girls Golf team and the Junior Varsity Girls Soccer team in Port Washington.  He was a City of Port Washington alderman from 2003-2009 and served on the Port Washington –Saukville School Board for nine years; president for five years. 1981 to 1997, he served as Camp Director for the Milwaukee County Council, Boy Scouts of America, Lefeber Northwoods Camp. On December 24, 1966, Al married Nancy Conway at St. Paul’s Community Church in Waubeka.  He is survived by his wife Nancy, his three daughters Stephanie (Eric Schneeberger) Haacke of Minneapolis, Carrie (Eric) Haacke Golden of Richmond, VA and Sarah (Kahlil Byrd) Haacke of Washington, DC, two grandchildren Kate and Charlie Haacke Golden, his brother in law Larry (Sue) Conway of Random Lake, his brother Kenneth (Mary Ann) Haacke of Oakfield, NY, his niece Cindy (Craig) Conway-Haas of Port Washington, two great nieces and one great nephew.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws Beth and Donald Conway.   A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 30, 4 PM at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, Port Washington with Pastor David Guse officiating.  Burial will be in Holden East Cemetery.  Visitation at the CHURCH Friday from 2:00 – 4 PM.
