Artis Sue (Murra) Poulsen was born April 28, 1936, in Buffalo Center, daughter of Andrew and Susan (Bruhns) Murra. She grew up in Buffalo Center and graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1954. On December 16, 1963, she was united in marriage to Jack Poulsen. Artis and her husband Jack had a love for our countries American Flag. They formed the National Fly the Flag of America organization. They traveled all over the United States putting up flag poles and flags so Americans could fly their American flag proudly. Artis and Jack also campaigned for Governor George Wallace when he ran for presidency. Artis lived in Edina, MN and worked as a church secretary at Edina Baptist Church. She lived in Edina until the death of her husband Jack in 1980. She then moved to Bancroft and lived there until becoming a resident of Timely Nursing Home in Buffalo Center. She had no children of her own, but she had two boxer dogs who brought a lot of joy and love into her life. Artis also had a gift and love for music. h failed. Artis died on November 23, 2019 at Timely Mission Nursing Home, Buffalo Center. She was 83. She is survived by her sister Arvilla Smidt, Odessa MO; brothers David (Margaret) Murra, Lake Mills, Allen (Beverly) Murra, Vermillion, SD; and many nieces and nephews. Artis was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents Andrew and Susan Murra, and brother-in-law, Bill Smidt. There will be no services held at this time.
