Henry “Hank” Kowalski Henry “Hank” Kowalski, age 85 years, longtime resident of the Town of Belgium, died Monday evening, February 14, 2011, at Cedar Grove Gardens.  He was born April 26, 1925 in Milwaukee, son of Walter and Mary Blasczyk Kowalski.  He was a graduate of Boys Tech High School in Milwaukee and served in the United States Air Corps during WW II.  On June 1, 1946, he married Dolores Ansay at St. Mary Lake Church.  The couple farmed in the Town of Belgium until retiring.  Henry was a member of St. Mary Lake Church, the Model A Club of America, and enjoyed collecting and restoring old cars and tractors.  He was a nature enthusiast who enjoyed planting trees, growing grapes, and making wine.  Henry was a former member of the Cedar Grove-Belgium School Board and served as Town of Belgium assessor for many years.  He is survived by his wife Dolores, nine children; Sister Rose (Carol) Kowalski of Wasparm, Nicaragua, Jeanne of Washington, DC, Laura (Mark) Nevins of Plymouth, WI, Kathy (Robert) Poull of Grafton, WI, Alice (Dan) Brill of Cedar Grove, WI, Bruce (Kathy) of Frederick, MD, Walter of Tucson, AZ, Karl...[more]

odi) of Waxahachie, TX and Rose of Cedar Grove, WI, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and his brother Joseph of Fond du Lac,WI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his son Jeff, his brother John, his sister Joan Lempke, two sisters in law Loraine Kowalski and Viola Kowalski, and his brother-in-law Frank Lempke.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sunday, February 20, 4 PM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 6092 Lake Church Road, Belgium, with Father James Ernster officiating.  Burial with full military honors will be on Monday, February 21, 10 AM at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Town of Belgium.  Visitation Sunday, February 20 from 1-3:30 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave., Belgium.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Henry’s name.  Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com.
