  NICHOLAS P. DECKER   Mr. Nick Decker, formerly of Green Bay Ave. in Saukville, passed away suddenly Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Harbor Club in Port Washington, where he had been residing for the last six years.  He was 96 years old.  Nicholas was born in Port Washington on May 4, 1914, son of Nicholas and Anna Leitner Decker.  After his schooling, Nick entered the US Army Air Force and served during WWII.  Mr. Decker was united in marriage with Barbara Gilman on September 22, 1944 at Chico Air Force Base in Chico, CA.  He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before he left the service in 1946.  The couple settled in Saukville where Nick was a welder at Simplicity.  He retired in 1978. His wife preceded him in death in 2004. Mr. Decker was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, as well as a member of American Legion Post 470 and the Machinists Union Local 1430.  He enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer in his slightly-younger years.  Mr. Decker was a very active member of the Harbor Club community and enjoyed socializing with the other residence.  He is survived by his son Steven Decker of Gays Mills, daught...[more]

Lois Decker of Milwaukee and one granddaughter Stephanie Schmidt (Fiancé Chris Cyrus) of Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  He is further survived by one sister Esther (Norbert) Hubing of Tucson, AZ.  Nick is preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and two sisters.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, March 24th at 11:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 145 Church Street, Saukville.  Father Tom Lijewski and Father Karl Acker will officiate.  Nick will be laid to rest beside his wife at St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Port Washington.  Military Honors will take place at the cemetery.  The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 24th from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Badger Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired.  The Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
