David Claire Moffitt entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 25, 2019, in Fort Worth, Texas. Dave was born on March 7, 1943, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, the third child of James and Bessie Moffitt. Dave attended schools in Fowler, Colorado, and graduated from Fowler High School in 1961. He then attended Colorado State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1965. He spent forty-three years studying and managing the impact of agricultural waste management on regional water quality for the Natural Resources Conservation Service. His service to the Department of Agriculture took him to jobs in Las Cruces, New Mexico; Silver City, New Mexico; Salt Lake City, Utah; Santa Rosa, California; Beaverton, Oregon and Fort Worth, Texas. After retirement, he enjoyed continuing to work for another ten years through the Texas A & M AgriLife Blackland Research and Extension Center in Temple, Texas. During his time in Salt Lake City, he had the fortune to meet and marry Maryke VanderKraan on December 23, 1972. en will remember their father for his integrity, work ethic, wisdom and sense of humor. Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Maryke; three children, Brian (Natalie) Moffitt of Burleson, Texas, Amy (Chuck) Miller of Hotchkiss, Colorado, and Cathleen Moffitt of Delta, Colorado; six grandchildren, Morgan Miller, JD Miller, Bailey Miller, Caroline Moffitt, Charlie Miller and Ainsley Moffitt. He is further survived by his siblings, Ella Mae (Deane) Beach of Pueblo, Colorado, and Bill (Jeanne) Moffitt of Richland, Washington, and his nieces and nephew, Jim (Sherri) Beach of Colorado City, Colorado, Sandy (Ken) Buren of Ellisville, Missouri, Cassie (Tom) Tarleton of Woodinville, Washington, and Cindy Moffitt of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Dave's memory to NESTeam International ( www.nesteam.org ), Christian Mission of the Orient ( www.cmothailand.net ) or Chest of Joash at Crossroads Christian Church.
