Fred Sklar passed away peacefully on January 1, 2019 at age 84 with his family by his side. He was married to the love of his life, Patsy Sklar for 61 wonderful years. Fred was a native Houstonian and attended San Jacinto High School and Rice University with a bachelor degree. He was Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army at Fort Polk, Louisiana and settled in Houston after his service and worked as a CPA at Ernst and Young and then senior positions at banks and then ultimately in real estate as a commercial real estate broker. He was an avid sports enthusiast as a collegiate fencer where he was All Southwest Conference at Rice University. He ran marathons and more recently led Pickle Ball games. He was inducted in the Ronnie Arrow Houston Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. He enjoyed fishing and bird watching in Galveston and traveling the world. He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy, sons Maury Sklar and his wife, Sheryl, and Dr. Jerald Sklar, daughters Madalyn Sklar and Judy Hasson, seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Matt), Ariel (Jimmy), Rachael, Ryan, Jeremy, Hannah, Jordan and two great grandchildren, Gwynn and Derek.
