He served on the K & H Co-op Oil Company board of directors for the past 19 years, was a member of the Burt American Legion, and attended St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Thomas J. Lichter died Monday, December 27, 2010, at Palo Alto County Hospital, Emmetsburg, IA, following a motor vehicle accident. He was 61. He is survived by his wife and soul mate Margaret Lichter of Burt; four children, Michael Thomas Lichter and wife, Sandra, of Park Rapids, MN; Megan Heather Curry and husband Maurice Curry of Johnston, IA; Erin Kaye Lichter of Lincoln, NE, and her twin sister, 2ndLieutenant Stephanie Joy Wilson and her husband 1stLieutenant Brian Wilson of Crestview, FL; and two grandchildren, Matthew Thomas and Macie Loretta Lichter of Park Rapids, MN. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother: Ann Garman (Jerry) of Dallas, TX; Lois Chang of Kailua, HI, and Raymond Lichter (Cheryl) of Burt, IA; eight brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Beverly Andersen (Maurice) of Sarasota, FL; Marlys Randick (Robert) of Oakland, CA; Harlen Stecker of Isanti, MN; Bruce Stecker (Joyce) of Buffalo, MN; Lamont Stecker; Virginia Axtell (Stanley) of Greely, CO; Dean Stecker (Linda) of Knoxville, IA; and Jocelyn Stecker of Edina, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter Heather Nicole Lichter on May 1, 1981; his father, Dr. Magnus Lichter on May 8, 1986; his mother, Loretta Lichter on July 7, 2000; his parents-in-law, Henry Stecker on July 3, 1988, Margaret Stecker on May 31, 2002; and his niece, Sharlene Garman on July 2, 1985.
