Robert Mitchell Press

Robert Mitchell Press, 83, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 in Houston, Texas. Robert leaves his wife of 56 years, Lorraine (Drury) Press; his daughter, Andrea Lore and son-in-law Michael Lore and his daughter, Dionne Miller; his grandchildren, Geoffrey, Collin, Holden, Lauren and Liam, all of Houston, Texas, as well many close friends from around the country. Robert was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of George and Evelyn Press.  Upon graduation from Hope High School, he received a football scholarship to Brown University in Rhode Island.  After college, Robert went to work in the wholesale liquor business in Chicago where he met Lorraine, and they were married in 1962. In 1964, they moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and began a family.  They moved to Houston, Texas in 1976.  Robert and Lorraine opened an optical business, Lorandi Optical, affectionately named for the three women he adored.  They worked together until 1998 when they sold their business and retired. aton, Florida where they made lifelong friends and memories.  Upon retiring, Robert became an avid golfer.  Robert's greatest pleasure were his five grandchildren.  He loved picking up carpool, attending their sporting events and going to Chuck E. Cheese with them. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
