On Monday, January 6, 2020, Douglas Dean May, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away at age 65. Doug was born on June 20, 1954, to Sam and Helen (Mai) May. He graduated from Greeley West High School in Greeley, Colorado in 1972, and attended the University of Northern Colorado on a baseball scholarship. Doug was an electrical wholesale manager for Newco, Inc. in Loveland for 37 years.
In 1982, Doug married the love of his life, Debbie, in Greeley. Doug had a daughter, Kimberly, from a previous marriage, and was blessed with his two other children, Amy and Jeremy, following their union. Doug was an avid golfer and a talented athlete. Growing up he played baseball and basketball, and into adulthood, continued with competitive softball. Doug maintained friendships through the years which he developed through his love of sports. He was a life-long California Angels fan, and had the amazing opportunity to see them play (as the Anaheim Angels) on their home field when they reached the World Series in 2002. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Sam, his mother, Helen, his brother, Tim, and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, his children, Kimberly (Jake) Shultz, Amy (Todd) Long, Jeremy (Sheila) Lutz, his brother, Brad, his grandchildren, Hope (Ben) Lovisone, Joey Long, Gracie Lutz, Lillie Lutz, Blake Lutz, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 13th, 2020, at 1:00 pm at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W 28th St., Greeley, CO 80634. Flowers or donations may be sent to Stoddard.
