Robert Dean Hancock

Robert Dean Hancock, Sr., 66, of Keokuk, died at 6:00 AM, Friday, June 10, 2011 at his home in Keokuk, Iowa. Robert was born February 20, 1945, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Orie James and Darlene Marie Brandon Hancock. He married Freeda Lucille Palmer and she preceded him in death in 1993. He married Helen Hancock and they later divorced. He had lived in Ft. Madison but moved back to Keokuk in 1992. He worked as a truck driver for Fruehauf in Ft. Madison. He also ran Bob's Lawn Care. While working for Fruehauf, he was a member of the local labor union. He enjoyed fishing, playing with his grandchildren, and camping when he was able. Bob didn't like sitting around and enjoyed fixing his lawn mower. He is survived by his significant other, Linda Bruce of Keokuk; twelve children, John Ray Waller of Chicago, Illinois, Jack Lee Hancock and wife Cheryl of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jeff Allan Hancock of Keokuk, Bondeana Marie Davis of Keokuk, Patricia Ann Farmer and husband Garry of Ft. kuk, Lynn Cummins and husband Bob of Argyle, Iowa and Eric Saunders and Mandy Couchman of Keokuk; thirty-eight grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; nine sisters and brothers, Kay Wiley and Wayne of Milton, Iowa, Sharon Harnden of Hedrick, Iowa, Jerry Yars of Hedrick, Iowa, Karen Richards and Larry of Ottumwa, Iowa, Rick Brandhofer of North Carolina, Debbie Songen of Ottumwa, Imogene Fetterf of Florida, Alberta Brandhofer of Florida and Alma Jans of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cheryl Lathrlp; and a great grandson, Xavier Andersen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street with Rev. James Waller officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be after 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 14, 2001, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center on Blondeau Street with family meeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Keokuk Humane Society.
