John J. Fiedler

John J. Fiedler, Jr. was born on June 3, 1921, in Bondin Township, Murray County, Minnesota to the late John Joseph and Loretta Rose (Frey) Fiedler, Sr. He was baptized at an early age at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fulda and later was confirmed in that same church. John received his early education in country school and then finished his education at St. Gabriel's Catholic School in Fulda. On November 25, 1941, John was united in marriage to Martha C. Schmitz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dundee, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, James, Judith and Douglas. For twenty-two years, John and Martha farmed in the Dundee area and then in the Brewster area for eight years. They then moved to Fulda where John worked at Champion Home from 1972-1978. He then worked at the Fulda Elevator until retiring in 1986. They then moved to Windom in 1989. On August 16, 2004, Martha passed away. After her death, John continued to live in Windom. Recently, John moved to the Mikkelsen Manor in Windom where he passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, June 17, 2011, at the age of 90 years. remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who had many enjoyments in life which included wood crafts, quilting with Martha, fishing, farming, bowling, gardening and playing cards. John is survived by his three children, James (Pat) Fiedler of Paris, TX; Judy (Lee) Thiesen of Windom; Douglas (Zona) Fiedler of Brownton; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha Fiedler; four siblings, Bernard (Lorraine), Henry (Anne), Raymond (LuJean) and Joyce Christensen.
