Alma Torgerson, of Crandon, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at her home. She was 65 years old. She was born on May 20, 1946 in Crandon to David and Opal (Wilson) Adams. She married Robert Torgerson Sr. on June 6, 1964 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Crandon. Mrs. Torgerson was a graduate of Crandon High School, class of 1964. She worked at the Crandon head start for 10 years. She then volunteered at Grant School in Wausau and then the New Hope Christian School in Crandon. She was a volunteer with the Midwest Indian Mission, and also a current board member for the Midwest Indian Mission. She was a past member and secretary of the Nashville Agriculture Club. She was a member of the Lake Lucerne Gospel Chapel. Mrs. Torgerson is survived by a son Bobby (Rose) Torgerson of Crandon; three daughters, Lisa Torgerson of Rhinelander, Melissa (Bryan) Shicks of Crandon and Heidi Kearney of Weston; three sisters, Mildred Kegley of Crandon, Ethel Malzahn of Merrill and Dawn (Ron) Cook of Lake Tomahawk; one brother, Tom (Valerie) Adams of Pine River; and eight grandchildren, Robert III, Theodora and Brandon Torgerson, John Bryan(Emily) and Bryanna Shicks, Kassondra, Elizabeth and Obad...[more]

Kearney. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, David and William Adams; two brothers-in-law, John Kegley and James Malzahn; and three nephews, David Adams, T.J. Adams and Nicholas Cook. A funeral service for Mrs. Torgerson will be held on Monday June 20, at 11:30 a.m. at Lake Lucerne Gospel Chapel with Rev. Don Dewing officiating. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place in the Pearson Cemetery. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family.
