Jeffrey Kris Shuman

Jeffrey Kris Shuman, age 56, left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Jan 29, 2020. He was born April 30, 1963 in Midland, Texas to Louis R. Shuman and Dian Barber. His passing was the result of a long battle with renal failure and multiple other health issues. Kris lived in Midland, Texas until age nine when he moved to Lovington, New Mexico where he lived until he graduated high school. He attended York College in York, Nebraska, Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and Lubbock Christian University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Kris loved music and loved to worship Jesus. He helped lead songs in the Churches of Christ that he attended and sang on praise teams for several years. He also tried his hand at a professional acapella singing career for a few months, but decided the starving artist life was not for him. In the late 1980's he moved to Austin to pursue a career in information technology, eventually working at Sematech for many years and most recently at the LCRA until he retired due to challenges with his health. h (Beth) Puckett. Kris and Beth were married on June 29, 1996 and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Kristen Grace, on March 29, 1998. In 2002 the Shuman family relocated to the Dripping Springs area where he lived until he passed. If there was anything Kris loved more than his Lord, wife and daughter, it was music. Now he is a part of the heavenly choir and singing his heart out. Kris was preceded in death by his mother Dian Barber-Wilkerson and step-mother Kay Shuman. He is survived by his wife Beth Shuman, daughter Grace Shuman, father Louis Shuman, aunts Priscilla Pense-Moore and Beverly Maxwell, and siblings Lannye Shuman, Mitzy Shuman Landry and husband David Landry, Greg Shuman and wife Sonya Shuman, and Russ Reed and wife Debby Reed. A memorial service will be held in Kris' honor at 4 pm on Saturday, Feb 1, 2020 at One Chapel Austin, 5508 US 290 W Austin, TX 78735. Donations may be made in his memory to mountaingateway.org.
