Mitchell Glen Mooney was born in Germany in 1957, to Betty and Jake Mooney. He grew up in Houston, Texas, with his younger brother Russell. He graduated from Northbrook High School, where he played the tuba in the marching band.
He attended Baylor University, becoming an active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the film club.
In 1980, he moved to Austin, back when it was still weird, working many different jobs and touching the lives of his co-workers and friends. He worked for Twin Liquors since 1998, sharing his love and knowledge of beer, wine and spirits with thousands of customers and friends.
Mitch loved history, film and music, and freely shared his opinion on all of them. He also loved to travel, especially to Santa Fe and San Francisco. Mitch had a huge heart and a razor-sharp wit, which he shared with everyone.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents Betty and Jake. He is survived by his brother Russell and sister-in-law Pat, his nephew Kip (and his wife Sheeva), his niece Mallory (and her husband Chris), and his countless friends.
If a man's wealth can be judged by his friendships, then Mitch was the richest man in town.
