Robert A. Mendelson, 89, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 from a recent stroke. He was born on December 17, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Bob was an accomplished research scientist, having developed the material used for the first Coca-Cola bottle. He was also instrumental in commercializing PVC and ABS plastics. He held several patents and had published many scholarly articles. He served on the steering committee for the establishment of ISO standards prior to becoming President of the Rheology Association. His accomplishments in science are too many to list.
Bob will be remembered as a humble man of very few words. He will also be remembered as an individual of unquestionable integrity. He was committed to the principles of fairness and equality. He was truly a kind, giving person and a true gentleman. Bob will definitely be missed by all who knew him.[more]
