George Michael "Radar" Walters of Willow Grove, formerly of Oreland, Pennsylvania died Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. He was 72 years old. George was born December 13, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late George T. Walters and the late Catharine Walters (nee - Hambach). He is the beloved husband of Katherine I. (nee Dawes) Walters; father of George T. Walters II and his wife Erin Rose, Gregory Walters and his wife Lisa, Christopher Walters and his wife Alyssa, Mark Walters, and the late Katherine Walters; grandfather of Alyssa, Erich, and Blake Walters; brother of Catharine "Kit" Armstrong and her husband James. George was a graduate of St. William's School in the Lawndale section of Philadelphia and Cardinal Dougherty High School in the Olney section of the city class of 1966. He worked for many years as a rigger and crane operator for Excelon (Philadelphia Electric Company). In his younger years, George played guitar in several bands. He was self taught and played by ear. his life, he was an audiophile which he passed down to his son George. George had a mechanical mind and could diagnose and fix anything from boats, which he loved, to cars and any household repairs. Relatives and friends were invited to his graveside service with military honors rendered by the United States Navy on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 11:30 A.M. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. Please plan on being by the cemetery office in the procession staging area, on the right side of the building as you pull in, between 11:15 and 11:20 AM.
