Marion Mary Hollingsworth Phifer, of Knoxville, was born October 22, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia.  She went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2015.  Marion was  a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was an active member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church for approximately 72 years where she and her husband, Bill, served the Lord in various ministries; her favorite was organizing and creating the full size cross of Easter lilies every year and directing the setup and decoration of the Christmon tree and the sanctuary at Christmas.  Marion loved the beach, the mountains, flower gardening, pets, horses and feeding the birds. Bill was her caregiver to the very end. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Luther (TL) and Gwendolyn Barker (Diddy) Hollingsworth; twin sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Clarence Walker; and brother, Thomas Hollingsworth. She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. James Wilson (Bill) Phifer of 63 years; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Thomas C. c (and husband, David), Rachel Phifer,  Anna Phifer Gallagher and husband, Brandon, and Wil Phifer;  8 great-grandchildren -- Lauren, Emily and Caleb Appleby, Luke, Samuel and Lily Zevac, Cadence Gallagher, and Hailee Phifer; sister-in-law, Douglas Hollingsworth; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be given through flowers for the family and/or donations to the Holiday Decorations Fund of Fountain City Presbyterian Church, 500 Hotel Road, Knoxville, TN 37918. Arrangements provided by Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2015 from 5:00 - 6:30 pm followed by the funeral service at 7:00 pm at Fountain City Presbyterian Church; the Reverends Max Reddick and Darryl Baker officiating.  Friends will meet at 10:45 am Saturday, March 21 at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 5315 Kingston Pike, and proceed to the burial service at 11:00 am in the Christus Gardens.
