He served as president of the University of Houston Law Center Alumni Association; he was awarded both the University of Houston Distinguished Alumni Award and The University of Houston Law Center Distinguished Alumni Award. In the 80's, Leonard proudly served as Chairman of the Texas State Banking Commission during one of the most tumultuous periods in banking history. Leonard and JoAnn were proud supporters of the Houston Symphony, Hadassah Women's Organization, The University of Houston, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and many other local charities. Leonard was preceded in death by his loving wife, JoAnn; his parents, Max and Esther, and his in-laws Dave and Bessie Schultz. He is survived by his children: Andrea and Bruce Holzband, Wade and Amy Rosenberg, Robert Rosenberg, Eric Rosenberg, and Lynne Siegel. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren: Stephen and Lisa Satter, Lori Satter, Melanie and DW Mann, Matthew and Jessie Rosenberg, Ethan and Antoinette Rosenberg, Betsy and Teddy Riley, Ben Siegel, Sarah Siegel, Emma Siegel, Tyler Rosenberg and Jack Rosenberg; great-grandchildren, Lawson, Amara and Riley Rosenberg, brother-in-law's, William and Leah Schultz and Harold Schultz. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Village of River Oaks and his wonderful caregivers for the care and compassion they gave to Leonard. A private burial will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 followed by a service of remembrance for friends and family at 4:00 PM at Congregation Beth Israel, 5600 N. Braeswood Blvd. Houston, TX 77096. While Leonard will be greatly missed, he will always be remembered for his keen mind, integrity and extreme generosity.
