Funeral Services for Mrs. Grace Evelyn Hammons Burroughs, age 92, of Cookeville will be conducted 12 noon, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Frank Ogilvie will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends on Monday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home. Mrs. Evelyn passed from this life on Friday morning, February 28, 2020 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Hilham Community of Overton County to the late Shirley Hyder & Vela B. Barlow Setser. Evelyn was a 1945 graduate of the Hilham Fisk Academy and was Baptist in Faith. Evelyn enjoyed reading and needle work. Evelyn leaves behind her daughters, Marilyn Gail Covington & husband Alec of Alpharetta, GA, and Kathie Ann Cooper & husband Sam of Cookeville, TN. In addtion to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husbands, Elzo Hammons, and Carlos Burroughs; sisters, Lucille Langford, and Sallie Eldridge; and brother, Horace Setser.[more]
