Aubrey Walker, 78, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019. Mr. Walker graduated from Howard University as a Mechanical Engineer and member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. After serving in the United States Army, he continued to work with the military in a civilian capacity for the Department of Veterans Affairs for over 40 years as Chief Residential Engineer, overseeing the construction of VA hospitals across the country. He had a passion for the sport of horse racing and was a proud Thoroughbred horseman who bred, trained, and raced several winning horses in California and Arizona. Aubrey Walker was generous with his time and enjoyed teaching English as a second language. He was intentionally kind to everyone that he met and provided profound advice that helped many to navigate their own lives. He was known for sharing many of his life stories that not only entertained but guided those who were lucky enough to hear them. Walker and Tony Walker, and is preceded in death by brothers Eugene Walker, Wilmer Walker, Calvin Walker and parents Litcey and Doralee (Pridgen) Walker. A special thanks is extended to longtime caregiver and friend, Theresa Brunick. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 11:00 am. Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary located at 6500 East Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85254. Interment will immediately follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024. A reception will be held at Turf Paradise Club House.
