Scottdale- Wendy Carol Dean was born on December 26,1963 in Oakland California to Bernita and Donald Dean. She passed away peacefully in her home on May 8, 2019.Wendy's passion for horses began at a very young age. Her first horse was an Appaloosa, named Stormy Pebbles. He was 16 hands and 10 times her size. At her very first horse show, aboard Stormy Pebbles she won first place. Wendy's accomplishments as a rider are vast. She competed at Capital Challenge, Pennsylvania National, Washington International, and National Horse Show. She had numerous wins at the Grand Prix level of show jumping. As a Junior and Amateur she won over 35 medals and won the Arizona Medal Finals four times. Wendy was the owner and trainer of Rancho Decano, a business she built side-by-side with her late husband and best friend Samuel William (Bill) Jorgensen. Rancho Decano riders and their families will all agree that Wendy was not just a trainer; she was family. Wendy called her young riders "my girls".
