Anita Louise Barney

Anita Louise Barney, 87, passed away peacefully joining her husband, Alan, on November 8, 2019. She leaves behind 2 daughters and their husbands; 1 son, and 1 grandson; 2 sisters; 4 nephews; and 1 niece. Anita was born in Dahlgren, IL; first born daughter to Robert and Madelon Nelson. She grew up in Peoria, IL, where she met and married Alan, her husband of 61 years. In 1963 Al, Anita, their two daughters, and newborn son headed west to Phoenix, Arizona. After many years of raising her children, Anita went to work for Revlon. She spent the next 25 years relishing her Revlon 'family', and to this day continues best friendships with several of her co-workers. She was an extraordinary wife, mother and friend. She loved music, spending many years singing in the Belles of Harmony Sweet Adelines Chorus and the Christ United Presbyterian Church Choir. Anita loved sports. She was an excellent golfer, was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and never missed the chance to watch the winter and summer Olympic Games. Barney and Grandma, will be cherished and fondly remembered for her wit, easy smile, and caring approach to others. Anita's grandson Garrison shares this with you - "From magic bugs, trips to Pratt's, numerous weekends spent watching Cartoon Network since I didn't have it at home, and going back and forth about who loved who the most, you've always been my best friend Grandma. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect role model when it comes to hard work, compassion, and having a sense of humor. It's evident the kind of person you have always been by the way people talk about you, and the amount of people that have been by your side this past month or so. I'm so glad you get to see Grandpa and Nana and Pop Pop all again, and I'm glad you're finally at rest. Thank you for being my best friend. I'll always and forever miss you, and I'll always and forever love you the universe." Anita would answer, "Love you more."
