York winters, and since her children had both moved away a few years prior, she made the decision to relocate to the state of Arizona. Bill knew he couldn't let her go, so he left his family and friends behind, and moved there with her. Jean and Bill lived together in her condo in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Bill told Jean that he wanted to get married, but being the devout Catholic that she was, she didn't feel it was right to remarry unless she had her original marriage annulled, so they agreed to just cohabitate instead. Shortly after moving to Fountain Hills, Jean got a job at the Chamber of Commerce. Her many duties included planning social events, such as their annual gala, and being the website administrator. She really enjoyed her coworkers at the chamber, and also interacting with the residents and visitors who came through the doors on a daily basis. Jean and Bill enjoyed an active social life in Fountain Hills. They made lots of friends, many of whom they met at Church of The Ascension, where they both served as ushers for years. They also shared a love of travel, and frequently took trips together. They visited such places as Florida, California, the Grand Canyon, Mexico, Greece, Turkey, and their all-time favorite, Italy. Although Jean did not have a large family, she remained close to the family she did have, especially her cousin Bryan and his wife, Kathryn. She and Bill made sure to visit them often in California. One of the happiest times of Jean's life was when her grandson, Joey, was born. She made it a point to be at the hospital for his birth, and would always celebrate his birthdays and holidays with him. She even attended his school holiday concert. She was very proud of her only grandson! Eventually, Jean decided that it was time to retire. She wanted to spend more quality time with Bill, and to do more traveling. Unfortunately, not long after retiring, Jean was diagnosed with the early stages of Dementia. Over the next couple of years, the dementia slowly progressed into Alzheimer's Disease. In January of 2018, Bill's family made the difficult decision to move him back to New York, as he was no longer capable of providing the level of care that Jean required. Jean was then moved into a memory care facility where she was well cared for until her passing on November 27, 2019. Jean was 82 years old at the time of her passing, and is survived by her daughter Karen, her son Kirk, her grandson Joey, and her longtime love, Bill.
