Beryl Evelyn Johnson

Beryl Evelyn White Johnson, age 95, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020, at the Journeys Neighborhood at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Beryl had deeded her body to the University of Iowa for medical studies and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Gunderson Funeral Home in Fort Dodge assisted with arrangements at the time of her death. Beryl was born on January 13, 1925 to Guy E. and Lucile (McCray) White on a farm south of Rolfe, Iowa. She attended school in Rolfe and graduated from Rolfe High School in 1943. As she was growing up she assisted her mother, brother, and sister in running the farm on which they lived. She was active in music and drama at school and also began to sing in the church choir. She participated in 4-H and held leadership roles in the the local club and on the County Fair Board. At one of the 4-H fairs she met Marvin Johnson, but after a few dates Marvin joined the Army Air Corps and Beryl went on to college. She attended Iowa State College from...
