Brian Rolf Carlson, age 56, passed away on October 6th 2018 at St Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.
He was the widower of Debra Papp. They passed within months of each other after 17 years together.
Born in Queens, New York, he was the son of Rolf H. and Christel G. Carlson. He graduated from University of Arizona with a Bachelors' of Music Education and Northern Arizona University with a Masters' of Music Education. He was employed as a music educator for most of the Crane School District in Yuma, Arizona, most recently at Centennial Middle School.
He was a member of the Yuma Big Band and the Yuma Jazz Band. He enjoyed Music and the Lego collection he had with his son Tony. He will be remembered by many for his love of all things music, patience, selfless giving nature, and for the impact he made on the youth of Yuma.
He is survived by his son Anthony Gastelum, his mother Christel, and his sisters Susan Mello, Petra Wallace, and Wendy White. He was predeceased by his wife Debi Papp and his father Rolf.
