Brian Kent Whitmer, Sr., 74, died on January 31, 2019 at Hospice of the Valley's Gardiner Home. He fought Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia for nearly a decade. He was the husband of Mary Whitmer and they shared 46 years of marriage. Brian was born in Bowling Green, Ohio, the son of Agnes and Earl Whitmer. Brian served a 5 year apprenticeship with Local 50 Plumbers and Pipefitters in Toledo, OH and became a Journeyman Pipefitter. He did industrial work through out the Toledo, OH area. When Brian moved to AZ he joined Local 469; some of his favorite job sites in AZ were Palo Verde Generating Station and Intel. Brian was a member of the Franciscan Renewal Center for 40 years. He was an avid hiker and completed over 20 Rim to Rim hikes in the Grand Canyon. Brian was a master craftsman and enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors, taking walks with his dogs, and playing with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for being a hard worker who was dedicated to his family.
