Funeral Home: Hansen Mortuaries
Ann left us quietly in the early morning hours of June 20, 2019. Ann was born in Phoenix, AZ and graduated West High School (1965), earned her BA from Arizona State University (1969) and MA from Illinois State University. Ann taught Physical Education, with a focus on Arts and Modern Dance, in secondary schools in California and Peoria, Ill, as well as teaching dance at ISU. Ann was a dancer and choreographer, dancing Off Broadway and working with Twyla Tharp in New York City. She wore many different hats in her career in the business world. Ann returned to Arizona in 2002 and after taking some time to travel, she accepted a position in the Madison School District, Human Resource department, working with certified staff. everyone they met along the way. Ann also taught art classes through Young Rembrandts. In her earlier days, Ann was a certified private pilot and she enjoyed taking family and friends for flights over her beautiful state of Arizona. Ann was also an avid traveler, visiting six of the world's seven continents. She had many amazing, adventurous trips, including visiting the Galapagos Islands, taking a polar plunge in the Antarctic, and a safari in Africa, to name but a very few. Her home is filled with beautiful works of art, as mementos from her many travels. Ann and Marsha would like to thank, with much love, Ann's amazing and dedicated medical teams at Virginia G. Piper Cancer Care Center (Osborn Medical Center) and Radiation Oncology at Arizona Center for Cancer Care (East 2nd St. and Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center, North 92nd St. locations). Ann was predeceased by her parents, Rene (Flint) and Basil Clarke. Ann is survived by Marsha, her dearly loved friend and longtime companion of many years, her beloved Snickers, Carson (Marsha's guide dog), and her cousin, Cathy. In lieu of flowers, Ann would like you to consider donations to Gabriel's Angels, Hospice of the Valley, or Ryan House, which can be made through Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary & Cemetery. And, as Ann would want you to do: LIVE! LAUGH! DANCE! LOVE!
