Susan Camille Willis died on September 12, 2019 in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 61 after a six-year battle with cancer.
Born August 9, 1958 in Phoenix, she was the third daughter of Jack and Sarah Willis. Susan grew up with her sisters Elizabeth Gentry, Helen Lenaburg, and Kathryn Carpenter, and attended Central High School where she graduated in 1976. She attended Phoenix College before she married her high school sweetheart Brian Burt in 1979. They started a family and Susan became a mother to two children. After divorcing in 1992, Susan enrolled at Arizona State University while also working as a single mother. She graduated in 1999 and began a career teaching in the Tolleson Elementary School District.
For many years she attended First Southern Baptist Church. She loved animals and owned many pets throughout her life. She loved to read, and harbored a deep passion for art and music, particularly Golden Age painters like Johannes Vermeer and Baroque composer J.S. Bach. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh and her legendary cookies.
Susan is survived by her children, Brianna Butz and Benjamin Burt; her parents; her sisters; and her granddaughter, Mayla Grace Butz.

an is interred at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale, Arizona in a burial plot she will share with her parents. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020.
