James M. Mastrangelo of Poughkeepsie passed away March 11, 2020 after a short illness at Vassar Brothers Hospital.  Born in the Bronx to Veronica and Joe, he was 75 and lived in Dutchess County much of his adult life.  A retired police sergeant with the NYPD, he followed in the footsteps of his dad, who was also with the NYPD, as a detective.  
 
Jim loved classical music and attended many concerts at Vassar College and the Bardavon. He was a strong supporter of the Arts and spent several years volunteering and donating to the Vassar College Art Museum, and as a volunteer tour guide at the Mills Estate in Hyde Park. He loved giving tours of the Mills mansion and the chance to make new friends with other volunteers.
 
He is survived by his sister and brother, Vivian (Ed) and Charles (Valerie) along with 4 nieces/nephews and 4 grand nieces/nephews.  He was a loving, compassionate person who was always generous with others in need.
