Brian P. Hartley, beloved fiancé, father, son and brother, 50, passed away on March 14, 2020 at Hospice of the Valley, Shelton House, Scottsdale. He was the fiance of Kristin Sager and they shared a 5 year partnership together. Born in Middletown, Connecticut, Brian was the son of Felton and Joanne Hartley. He graduated from Arizona State University (ASU). Brian was an amazing hockey player and started playing at age 4. He played competitively here in the USA, Canada and in Europe. He and his mom shared a special bond through hockey as she took him to practices daily and traveled with him to Canada for summer hockey every year when he was young. Brian was also very close with his father, at an early age they started many hiking adventures all over the state of Arizona and hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim numerous times. Brian's favorite part of the Grand Canyon was the north rim. He and his father also had many hunting adventures together. He was very athletic and won state championships in many different sports. with Kristin, Ian and Isabelle in the mountains, which he loved the most and where he found the most peace. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, charm, strength, athleticism, loyalty and love of God, his family, friends and country. He also loved animals especially his dog, Dante, his 165 lb. rottweiler, who passed away several years ago but during Dante's sixteen year life, he traveled everywhere with Brian. He is survived by his fiancé Kristin Sager and her son Ian, his daughter Isabelle, his father Felton, sisters Collene, Kym and Kelly, half sister Pam and half brothers Miles and Wade. He is predeceased by his mother, Joanne. His burial will be at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Crown King Fire Department.
