RAYMOND R. LYNCH

Raymond R. Lynch, 80, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday morning, October 15, 2013 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in the presence of his loving family and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice and the exemplary caregivers at Jacobetti. Ray was born on May 21, 1933 in Gary, Indiana, a son of the late Grant and Catherine (Roberts) Lynch. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Saratoga in electronics. After his discharge from the Navy, Ray worked as an electrician for Inland Steel. While living in this area, he previously owned Ray's TV Repair, worked in sales at Sears, later Olson Motors and eventually retired from Hornbogen Auto in Marquette as sales manager. In his free time, Ray enjoyed gardening and tinkering as well as hunting. He greatly enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp in Sagola with his sons. Ray was a member of St. Peter Cathedral and American Legion Post #44 since 1959 where he was also a past commander. ne) Lynch, both of Marquette and Patricia (Peter) Chevrette of Channing; eight grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Lynch, Jacob Lynch, Sally (Kyle) Keskey, Jason (Lacey) Schmeltzer, Joe (Rachel) Schmeltzer, Samantha Chevrette and Chelsea (David) Syrek; three great grandchildren, Lilian Keskey, Iris Keskey and Jack Syrek; one sister, Elaine (Robert) Smith of Portage, IN; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his parents was an infant daughter, Mary Frances Lynch in 1964; a great grandson, Michael A. Schmeltzer and a brother, Richard Lynch in 1973. Visitation will be on Friday in the Bishop's Room of St. Peter Cathedral beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in the cathedral with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Mr. Lynch's grandchildren will act as his escorts. Memorials are preferred to the D.J.
