VEDA MAY MACKO-KANERVA

(Veda) May Macko-Kanerva went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 12, 2016. May was born on November 6, 1930 in Owosso, MI, a daughter of the late Stuart and Mildred (Henderson) Gilbert. She was raised in Park Hill, Ontario, Canada and later returned to Michigan. May married John Macko on August 6, 1948. John preceded her in death in 1999. On February 17, 2002 she married Russell Kanerva. May was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her family and her home were her greatest joy. She is survived by her husband, Russell Kanerva; daughters, Gloria Nickerson and Marie Bedore of Gwinn, Cynthia (Arthur) Brabbs of Marquette, and Clara (Thomas) Fries of New Burn, NC; a son, Daniel (Beverley) Feckovic of Oscoda, MI; a sister, Marie Grigg of Strathory, Ontario, Canada; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; and special niece and nephew, Pat and Steve McDonnell.
