Serene Becker

Serene Ann Becker was born on May 31, 1944, in Tracy, Minnesota to the late Harold and Grace (Franz) Derickson. In 1944, Serene was baptized at Highwater Lutheran Church in rural Lamberton and later was confirmed in 1959 in Springfield, Minnesota. She received her early education in country school and later graduated from Springfield High School in the Class of 1962. On November 26, 1966, Serene was united in marriage to Ronald Becker at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with three children. After marriage, Serene and Ron lived in Sanborn until 1969 when they moved to Windom where they lived until the present time. Through the years, Serene worked for Sperry/Unisys in Jackson for eleven years before starting her own daycare in her home which she was dedicated to for fifteen years until retiring in 2003. For sometime, Serene's health had been declining and on Monday, July 2, 2007, Serene had a massive heart attack and was taken to Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2007, with her family at her bedside, at the age of 63. in Windom and found much enjoyment in playing cards, visiting with others, and taking numerous trips with her family. Her dedicated family who mourns her loss includes her husband of forty-years, Ronald Becker of Windom; two daughters, Arlette (Becker) Trumble and her husband, Doug, of Farmington; Angela Becker of Minnetonka; two grandsons, Timothy (15) and Lucas (9) Trumble of Farmington; step-brothers and sisters, Jesse Leopold and his wife, Carolyn, of Worthington; Paul Leopold and his wife, Jean, of Heron Lake; Doris Copley and her husband, Craig, of Roseville; Linda Just and her husband, Gerald, of Bingham Lake; Diane Olson and David Schwartz of Bingham Lake; Joan Buhman and her husband, Mike, of Oak Grove; and many other family and friends too numerous to mention. Serene is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard Becker; and one brother, Benard. Blessed be the memory of Serene Ann Becker.
