North Augusta, SC--Mr. Arthur J. Usher, 74, entered into rest May 2, 2020. A private family service will be held at a later date. Mr. Usher was a native of Savannah, Georgia having made North Augusta his home for over 50 years. He retired as an Engineer from Norfolk Southern Railroad with over 30 years of service where he was affectionately known as "Mad Dog." Mr. Usher brought untold joy to many as Santa Claus where his authentic personality and positivity were a true gift to others. He loved vintage cars, western movies and classic Americana and authored a book entitled "The Real Deal," which told of his journey as Santa Claus. Mr. Usher was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Jean Usher. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth Bonds Usher; two brothers, William (Melissa) Usher and Jerry and Jan Usher, all of Savannah, GA; two sisters, Judy White, Savannah, GA and Madeline Erickson, Green River, WY; several nieces and nephews.
