ool in Lanett, Alabama in June, 1944. She was one of the "star" basketball player her junior and senior year. Erma united in holy matrimony to Willie Lewis Carr on July 1, 1944. She was a devoted wife and partner for 47 years prior to his death in August , 1991. To this union, two children were born - Shevon and Velma. Erma was a great influence on her husband and children. She was the driving force to motivate the family to be successful yet compassionate, ambitious yet humble, strong yet gentle, and loving and generous. Willie and Erma were great parents, god fearing and dedicated church members, wonderful friends to each other and to their many friends, relatives and citizens of West Point, Georgia. Erma entered the business world as an insurance agent for North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1947. She served the company for 28 years and was the recipient of many awards, trips and financial bonuses. Erma retired at the young age of 52. She continued to keep herself busy by volunteering as a foster grandmother, attending Bible College, working in the Church and bring involved in many social and civic organizations. Erma loved to travel, she loved her church, and she loved her hats!! She had a substantial inventory of beautiful hats which she proudly wore to coordinate with her many Sunday suits. Erma was a pacesetter, a leader, a teacher, a mentor, a loving wife and mother, a friend, a Christian, a realist, and an overall beautiful person. A legacy of love is entrusted to her survivors: her daughters - Shevon Carr of Savannah, GA. and Velma Carr Marshall of Los Angeles, CA; one sister-Lurlean Davidson (Ogletree); one brother-Robert Ferrell; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
